Peter Smith’s Diana

Original Performance Art Musical
Created by and starring
Mx Peter Smith

‘The perfect combo of stunning performance, razor edge commentary, gender discovery and pop culture worship.’

Peter Smith's 'DIANA.' is a performative comedy musical adaptation of the legendary BBC interview between Diana, Princess of Wales and BBC correspondent, Martin Bashir. This was the first time we heard her perspective, and it was during this interview that she claimed the role of adulteress, self-harmer, bulimic and depressive, and became weaponized to destroy the fourth wall between the world and Buckingham Palace - all the while maintaining the decorum and grace it took her years to manifest.

Created by and starring Mx. Smith, this marathon one-person musical places Princess Diana on Peter Smith's trans body in order to disembody the woman from her image, and in doing so, change the context completely.

Peter Smith is a comedian and singer based in New York City. TV credits include SHRILL (Hulu), ALTERNATINO (Comedy Central) and THREE BUSY DEBRAS (Adult Swim). Comedy Central chose them as one of their 2018 UP NEXT Variety Performers. TIME OUT New York named Peter a 2018 Comic to Watch. Peter starred as the titular character in Leonard Bernstein’s PETER PAN at Bard SummerScape 2018 and as “Caitlyn Jenner” in KARDASHIANS! BREAK THE MUSICAL!, a Kardashians/Cats parody about which the New York Times said Peter “ultimately steals the show”. Peter is the first trans person to ever professionally perform all 35 characters in Doug Wright's Pulitzer/Tony Award winning solo play I AM MY OWN WIFE.  They've had monthly show at Caroline's On Broadway, The Duplex and The Slipper Room.  Most frequently, they host a weekly standup show "Pig" downtown at the Slipper Room but can be seen in clubs across the U.S. The New Yorker said Peter is "wickedly playful".
